What is Amazon Web Services?

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a secure cloud computing platform used by individuals, businesses, and corporations built by Amazon. AWS cloud was launched in 2006 to help assist Amazon.com to handle it's online web traffic. Early on, AWS was one of the first pay-as-you-go models in the marketplace. The thought process behind that is you (as the consumer) pay more money when you need more space. Instead of investing in an extensive database or server, you pay for what you need. This cloud services platform began replacing traditional data centers that companies would have to rely on to host their critical infrastructure and data. One similar service which is a direct competitor is Microsoft's Azure.

One key to cloud computing is the ability to use virtual servers to handle large sets of data. The power of cloud computing can help transform new ways for businesses to manage data and may better decisions with the power of these virtual servers. AWS today uses deep machine learning as part of their service for businesses. Today, you can use this cloud computing technology to help forecast, review recommendations, and understand different languages all from machine learning.
