About me

Associate Professor Falkner is a member of the Computer Science Education Research Group. He is an award-winning teacher and conducts research into a number of areas: computer network design and development, network security, privacy preservation, ethics and educational research, with a focus on increasing student participation, retention, and enthusiasm. He works extensively in education beyond the traditional borders of the University, including MOOCs, physical game-based approaches, and extensive collaborative work with the United States and Finland.

Nick loves teaching and does most of his education research into the areas of motivation, time management and effective teaching delivery. He also looks at the role of social networks in forming strong communities for learning, to identify positive and supportive behaviour that will lead to better outcomes for everyone.
