About Me

Frederik Temmermans is a researcher at the Department of Electronics and Informatics (ETRO) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and iMinds. He received his PhD in Engineering in 2014. His research focuses on image processing, interoperable access to image data and image search. He has been involved in several research projects in the medical, mobile and cultural domains. Frederik participates in Europeana Space project where he is co-leading WP4 and is responsible for interoperable access to image content and the development of a demonstrator focused on educational use of extreme high resolution imagery. Frederik is an active member of the JPEG standardization committee (ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG1) since 2006 and founder of VUB spin-off company Universum Digitalis.
