Professor Chu is the Kingboard Professor in Advanced Dentistry, Chair Professor of Family Dentistry and Associate Dean (Research and Knowledge Exchange) of HKU Faculty of Dentistry. His leadership extends globally, as he serves as Chair of the FDI Public Health Committee and Vice President of the Asian-Oceanian Federation of Conservative Dentistry. His professional accolades, earned by examination, include fellowships in the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS), the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (FHKAM), the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FDSRCSEd), and the Academy of Dental Materials (FADM). He is a diplomate of the American Board of General Dentistry (ABGD) and a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD). Professor Chu is Section Chief Editor (Preventive Dentistry) of the Dentistry Journal and Frontiers in Oral Health. He also serves on the editorial boards of major dental journals such as the Journal of Dental Research and the International Dental Journal. As principal investigator, he has received external grants totaling approximately US$20 million. An educator at heart, he supervises PhD students and postdoctoral fellows, some of whom have ascended to full or associate professorships, with several listed among the Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists.
