About me
Professor Packey is the Director of the Master of Science in Mineral and Energy Economics at Curtin University. Dr. Packey has worked for the International Copper Association, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Oakridge National Laboratory, U.S. Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency. He has conducted educational/management training in Australia, Brazil, Belgium, Chile, China, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Kenya, Kuwait, South Korea, and United States of America. Dr. Packey’s research includes the profitable use of mine waste, rare earth markets, hydroelectric combined cycle generation, nontechnical risks in extractive industries and the optimization between mitigation and adaptation in climate change response strategies. Dan is a Member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM), the International Association of Energy Economists and the Economic Society of Australia.
