Dr. Hamama graduated from Mansoura Univ, Egypt, where he obtained his BDS (2002) and MDS (OperDent & Endod) (2009) degrees. In 2014, he awarded the PhD degree in the field of Aesthetic and Operative Dentistry from The University of Hong Kong.

Dr. Hamama is a Clinical Professor in Operative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry Mansoura University, Egypt. In 2020, he was appointed as Honorary Associate Professor in Restorative Dental Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry (The University of Hong Kong). In 2021, he was appointed as an Associate Editor of Helyion (Dentistry Section), Elsevier Journal. In July 2023, he was announced as a Fellow of International College of Dentists (ICD). In January 2024, he was announced as a Fellow of Pierre Fauchard Academy (PFA). Recently, He was appointed as Editorial Board Member of International Dental Journal (Flagship Journal of World Dental Federation FDI). In 2014, he was appointed as Editor of BMC Oral Health, Springer Nature Journal.

Dr. Hamama received many scientific recognition awards from; IADR: Best Presentation Award (2012), HKU: Outstanding Research Postgraduate Student Award (2015) and Mansoura University: The Outstanding Young Staff Award (2019). Dr. HAMAMA is a high caliber researcher and he has a Google Scholar H-index of 14 and Scopus H-index of 11 with more than 640 citations and more importantly, a rising research trajectory. After his PhD study, he expanded his research from cariology to dental adhesives, bioactive pulp capping materials and CAD/CAM. Also, he is interested in Evidence-Based Dentistry (EBD) and consequently, he published many systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The quality of his publications is rated very good as reflected by publications in high-impact factor journals. He has published several international referee top dental Journals such as, Clinical Oral Investigations, International Endodontic Journal, Journal of Endodontics and Journal of Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials. Additionally, Dr. Hamama supervised more than 80 (Mphil & PhD) PGS students and majority of his students published their work in some prestigious local or international journals or conferences.

Dr. Hamama is a member of many international organizations; European Organization of Caries Research(ORCA), American Academy of Gold Foil Operators (AAGFO) and Academy of Operative Dentistry. Dr. Hamama is currently the current manager of Mans Univ Oper Dent Dept Clinics, as well as, BDS 4 Year coordinator. Also, he is the coordinator of Mansoura University Visiting Scholars Affairs (VSA) and member of Faculty of Dentistry Research Ethics and Cultural affairs Committees. Dr. HAMAMA is one of the trainers of Mansoura University Staff Developing Centre (UDC). Dr. HAMAMA was a former Clinical Assistant Professor and Cariology course leader in HKU (2016- 2018). During his term, he initiated and revamped the undergraduate Cariology Course incorporating risk assessment and contemporary minimally invasive caries removal concept in the curriculum. Furthermore, he implemented the Virtual reality experience in cariology teaching courses.
