CTO at Groenholland
Dr H (Henk) J.L. Witte worked from 1985 until 1995 at the University of Amsterdam and Free University of Amsterdam as a project researcher, working on vegetation and climate reconstruction of the past 100.000 years and integrated distributed database systems. During that time, he taught multivariate statistics, ecological modelling and bio-statistics courses. In 1994 he obtained his PhD in Biology. In 1995 he started to work at Groenholland, as senior project manager Geo-Informatics. Having worked on Geographical Information Systems, Geohydrological and pollution modelling, databases and vertical borehole heat exchanger systems, he works exclusively on Ground Source Energy Systems since 2000. His work on Ground Source Energy Systems includes: Geothermal Response Testing; Design of borehole heat exchanger fields with special attention to thermal interactions of large fields of individual systems, effects of ground water flow and storage optimization; Quality control and design specifications; Control system implementation and monitoring of hybridized heat pump systems (open- and closed loop systems); Developing new calculations methods for different types of ground heat exchangers. Henk coordinates the Dutch training courses for ground source energy certification and teaches several courses in this framework. He has been active in several European and national research programmes as well as being an active member of the International Energy Agency. He served as one of the specialists on the European Norm committee on borehole heat exchanger systems.
