Karel C. Terwel

Karel was an Assistant Professor of Structural Design and Safety in the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at TU Delft and Coordinator of Structural Safety at the Delft Safety and Security Institute. His PhD from TU Delft (2014) focused on human and organizational factors influencing structural safety.

Karel has been involved in several courses on the structural design of high-rise buildings and a course on forensic structural engineering. His research activities concentrate on structural damage to masonry buildings caused by earthquakes, among other factors. He has also investigated several structural failures in the Netherlands.
