About me

Dr. Bachrach is Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology at Stanford University School of Medicine where she active in clinical practice, clinical research, teaching and mentoring. She completed undergraduate training at Harvard University, received her medical degree from Tufts Medical School, completed pediatrics residency training at UCSF and Stanford and fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children and the University of Toronto before returning to Stanford in 1985. Throughout her career, Dr. Bachrach has had a clinical and research focus on pediatric thyroid disorders. In particular, she has worked to educate primary care providers about the importance of recognizing thyroid disease since these disorders can profoundly affect physical and mental development. Dr. Bachrach's other clinical and research focus is osteoporosis prevention in childhood. Her work has examined the determinants of normal bone mineral acquisition, the challenges of pediatric bone densitometry, risk factors for early bone fragility, and therapies to prevent and treat osteoporosis in pediatrics.
