About Me

Machiko Narita is an Economist in the Monetary and Macroprudential Policies Division of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department of the IMF. Previously, Machiko worked at the IMF Institute for Capacity Development and as a country economist at the Fund’s Western Hemisphere Department. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 2011, specializing in macroeconomics and financial economics, including consumption, housing, and business cycles. Machiko is a former Japan-IMF Scholarship recipient and a national of Japan.
