Mourad Takawi is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Theology at the University of Notre Dame, where he also earned his MTS in Moral Theology. Before coming to Notre Dame, he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Political Science from the American University in Cairo. He volunteered and worked in a number of human rights projects in Cairo. He also worked in cross-cultural dialogue at his alma mater, where he organized and facilitated video-conferencing courses along the themes of East-West, Global South, and Arab dialogue between students from five continents. Mourad’s academic interests include Arab Christianity, the development of Eastern and Oriental Christian theology after Islam, as well as early and modern Christian-Muslim relations. Mourad enjoys reading fiction and traveling with his wife, and they are now on a quest to visit all fifty states.
