About me

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lutz Eckstein is director of the Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika) at RWTH Aachen University in Germany. His areas of research include connected automated mobility, vehicle concepts and HMI, vehicle structures, vehicle dynamics, energy management and drivetrains, traffic psychology and acceptance. He has experience in leading large-scale and interdisciplinary research projects involving a vast network of top-tier universities and organizations. His published research and expertise is well regarded worldwide, underlined by his appointment to the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, and his additional positions as Scientific Director of the NRW Competence Network Automated and Networked Mobility, and his role as president of VDI - The Association of German Engineers, starting in 2023.
