Tara is the Director of Human Rights Education at Amnesty International India. She leads the Human Rights Education team in India in developing the Human Rights Education Programme with schools, communities and the wider public. In the recent past, she was a Senior Policy Advisor for WWF as part of the global Climate and Energy Team, working on policy advocacy for climate resilient development, poverty and environmental governance. Her experience includes social and environmental research and strategic planning to architecture. She has worked with bilateral and multi-lateral development organisations on equity and diversity in natural resource management and rural development; corporate social responsibility; participatory organisational learning and development and; social infrastructure design and planning. She has long-term experience in India, Vietnam, Nepal, Bhutan and Denmark, as well as in Laos, Uganda, Tanzania, the Netherlands and South Africa. She is the lead author of Building an equitable green economy, commissioned as a contribution to the Rio+20 Environment and Development Conference.
