Thomas Story

IMF Revenue Administration Expert at International Monetary Fund

About me

Thomas Story has worked on revenue administration, for the International Monetary Fund, and in various capacities, over the past 22 years. Other positions he has held include Assistant Commissioner at the Australian Taxation Office and Executive General Manager for Australia’s anti-money laundering agency. He has worked extensively on tax administration across Europe, the Middle East and Africa and Asia/Pacific regions. He was the in-country IMF advisor to establish the revenue system for the United Nations Transitional Administration for East Timor in 2000/1 and advisor to the Transitional Islamic State of Afghanistan in 2003/4. He worked for the Fiscal Affairs Department at the IMF headquarters between 2004 to 2006 and from 2009, until his retirement as IMF Deputy Division Chief for revenue administration in 2016. He continues to work as an external advisor for the International Monetary Fund.
