Occupational, Social and Environmental Medicine at RWTH Aachen University
Prof. Dr. Jessica Lang is professor for Occupational Health Psychology specialising in psychosocial risk assessments at RWTH University in Aachen, Germany.
Jessica’s research is strongly application-oriented and focuses on the optimisation of the psychosocial risk assessment process, and the impact of work-related stress not only on worker mental health outcomes (e.g. depression) and physical health outcomes (e.g. back pain) but also on organisational outcomes. Thereby she is also considering the impact of hazardous substances exposure (e.g. asbestos or PCB) on psychological strain reactions.
Jessica’s work has been funded by EIT Health, the Stifterverband and by institutions of the German accident insurance system. The work has been published in top tier outlets such as the Journal of Applied Psychology and Journal of Occupational Health Psychology. Jessica is the deputy director of the Institute for Occupational, Social and Environmental Medicine in the Medical Faculty of RWTH Aachen. She is also a board member of the German Society for Occupational and Environmental Medicine (DGAUM) and scientific member of the advisory body to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs on the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
