About Me

X. Shirley Liu is a Professor of Computational Biology and Biostatistics at the T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and the director of the Center for Functional Cancer Epigenetics at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Her research focus on algorithm development and integrative mining from big data generated on microarrays, massively parallel sequencing, and other high throughput techniques to model the specificity and function of transcription factors, chromatin regulators and lncRNAs in tumor development, progression, drug response and resistance. She developed many widely cited and used algorithms for transcription factor motif finding, ChIP-chip/seq and DNase-seq data analysis, and recently on genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9 knockout screens. She and colleagues also pioneered on using ChIP-chip/seq to understand transcription factor and chromatin regulator function in cancers.
