About me
Xavier Debrun is a Deputy Division Chief at the IMF’s Fiscal Affairs Department. Previously, Xavier worked in the Research Department - contributing to the World Economic Outlook, the Fund’s flagship publication. In 2006-07, he was a Fellow at Bruegel—Brussels’ leading think tank on European economic issues—and an Associate Professor of Economics at the Graduate Institute in Geneva, where he obtained his Ph.D. in International economics. Xavier’s research interests include international policy coordination, the economics of monetary unions, and macro-fiscal issues, including debt sustainability assessments and the stabilizing role of fiscal policy. Xavier is a national Belgium.
