Immersions

As a learner in the online MBA program, you will attend two immersion experiences: one virtual and one on the University of Miami campus. The immersion on campus gives you the opportunity to apply your skills and network with peers and faculty in Miami for three to five days.

The one-credit Leading Change in Organizations immersion explores how to manage challenges associated with organizational change processes in order to overcome obstacles and ensure that changes are sustainable over time. The two-credit Negotiations immersion covers topics such as power, persuasion, problem-solving, ethics, and cross-cultural negotiation through self-assessment, role-play negotiation exercises, and case studies.

Frequently asked questions

Is an online MBA degree worth it?

The value of an online MBA will often depend on a range of factors such as school and program ranking, faculty quality, and curriculum difficulty. MBA learners at the Patti and Allan Herbert Business School value the expertise of faculty and the global alumni network that includes professionals at organizations such as Amazon, Capital One, Citi, IBM, and Visa.

Do employers care if you earn an MBA online?

Each organization is different, but many treat an MBA earned online the same as an MBA earned on campus; they are, after all, often the same degree. For example, the online MBA program at the University of Miami is designed and taught by the same faculty who teach in the on-campus program.

How long does it take to get an MBA online?

Typical MBA programs take two to three years to complete, based on whether they are full or part time. The online MBA at the University of Miami can be completed in as few as 20 months on a full-time schedule, or 28 months on a part-time schedule. Also, the accelerated track can be completed in 16 months full time or 24 months part time.

Can you get an MBA without taking the GMAT?

Every year, more and more MBA programs accept standardized test scores such as the GRE instead of the GMAT, or they waive GMAT test scores altogether. The online MBA program at the University of Miami does not require either GRE or GMAT test scores to apply — the admissions committee prefers to focus on potential for leadership and experience.

What are the MBA admission requirements?

Applicants to the online MBA program at the University of Miami need two years of prior professional work experience and a bachelor’s degree from any field. Applicants to the accelerated online MBA track must have previously earned a bachelor’s, master’s, or equivalent degree in business in the last seven years.
