Louise Millette, P.Eng., FEC, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at the department of Civil, Geological and Mining Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, a department which she chaired from 2002 to 2021. She obtained her bachelors’ degree and her Ph.D. at Polytechnique and joined as a professor after 12 years at Bell Canada. Ms Millette spearheaded Polytechnique’s sustainability actions and commitments. She wrote its first sustainability policy in 2004 and created the Sustainability Office in 2013. These and other initiatives led to Polytechnique being STARS Gold certified in 2019.
In addition to her work aimed at integrating sustainability across the engineering curriculum, Louise Millette’s many involvements have earned her several awards and distinctions. She has been named Knight of the Ordre de Montréal and Fellow of Engineers Canada, and has received awards from the Ministre de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur du Québec and the Réseau de femmes d’affaires du Québec.
