A self-reflective, leadership-focused curriculum

The 33-credit curriculum combines 11 courses, two concentration options, several hands-on projects, and a capstone research project. You’ll study current issues and trends in educational leadership such as the cultural mosaic of today’s classrooms, social change, technology, budgeting, and legal issues. After you graduate, you’ll have a firm grip on how to use instructional strategies and the latest technology tools to deliver inclusive, transformative learning experiences. As an online graduate student in the program, you will learn to:

  • Use assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social, and physical development of the learner.

  • Recognize the cultural mosaic of today’s classrooms and foster a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement, and self-motivation for all students.

  • Research, evaluate, and use a variety of instructional strategies to encourage their students' development in critical thinking, problem-solving, and performance skills.

  • Use effective communication to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.

  • Become reflective practitioners who continually evaluate the effects of their choices and actions on others, and who actively seek out opportunities to grow professionally.

The online M.Ed. in Educational Leadership offers the following two concentrations to help you grow into the leader you want to be:

  • Instructional Design:

This concentration addresses instructional design, theory and practice of e-learning, and multimedia strategies for instructional media. You’ll be prepared to become a leader in training, development, and innovative teaching.

  • Educational Leadership:

This concentration explores educational assessment, teacher leadership, budget analysis and planning, and educational law. You’ll be prepared to become a leader in administration and policy.
