
James H. Rudy Professor of Information Systems, IU Vice President for IT & CIO emeritus at Indiana University

Dr. Brad Wheeler is the James H. Rudy Professor of Information Systems at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. He formerly served as IU’s Vice President for IT & CIO for 13 years and led a $175 million university-wide IT services unit for IU's seven campuses including supercomputing, business systems, decision support, clinical affairs, and cybersecurity. He concurrently served as IU’s Vice President for Communications and Marketing where he restructured the portfolio for deeper marketing research and brand management for each campus and IU Online.
He has co-founded and led over $100 million in open source software and service collaborations among universities and corporations. In 2009, he commenced IU's eTexts initiative and implemented a cutting-edge delivery model to tackle the high costs of textbooks for students. He continues to teach and advise corporate audiences on IT-enabled transformation and cybersecurity, and has done so on six continents.
Dr. Wheeler earned a bachelor’s degree in business, and an MBA, from Oklahoma State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems from Indiana University and was formerly an assistant professor at the Robert Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland at College Park.
