Dr. Sergio Vélez earned his PhD with cum laude honors, focusing on the use of multispectral imagery to fine-tune woody crop management. He currently holds a postdoctoral position within the Flexigrobots project at Wageningen University where, in collaboration with other team members, they are developing innovative techniques for flexible robots and smart automation in precision agriculture tasks, including disease detection through UAVs.
Sergio has over 15 years of experience in the food production sector. Beyond the Netherlands, he has worked in countries like Spain, Argentina, France, and South Africa. This has enriched his involvement in various projects centered on precision agriculture and leveraging new technologies for crop adaptation to climate change.
Outside of his professional work, Sergio enjoys playing video games and outdoor sports like trekking.
