About me

Dr. ir. Tim Horeman received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and is a tenure track (assistant) Professor and researcher at TU Delft. Tim was involved as a founder and Technology Director of MediShield BV and Technology Director of Surge-On Medical BV. Additionally, he is founder of four other technology start-ups and grow-ups. Tim initiated medical device innovations which resulted in 19 patent families including patents in force and motion sensing in surgery and MIS instruments.

Tim received the first annual Athanasiou ABME Award from the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES). Furthermore, Tim received the Prins Johan Friso Engineering award in 2016 for his contribution to the development of medical technology and the improvement of patient safety. He was also co-author of the NEN guideline for reusing single-use medical devices. Tim completed the University Teaching Qualification (BKO/UTQ) at TU Delft Teaching Academy in 2021.

Tim fulfills several public functions including advisory board functions at MediShield, Surge-On medical, GreenCycl, ProVici, portfolio Director MedTech at TU Delft Extension School and as a committee member of the EAES (Robotics and Technology).
