About this courseSkip About this course
This engineering course is the continuation of the edX course “Fundamentals of Communication Acoustics.” Communication acoustics is defined as the way sounds travels from a source, through a channel and finally to a receiver.
In this follow-upcourse, we will cover a representative set of practical applications and look at the different system components involved in acoustic communication.
Top experts in the field of communication acoustics, all of whom are affiliated with the leading Universities of Technology in Germany, will take you through practical applications for communications acoustics. These include room acoustics, methods for spatial sound capture and presentation, automatic speech recognition, text-to-speech synthesis, product sound design, and perceptual audio coding.
After completion of the course, you will have gained a broad understanding of the involved subdomains. You will be ready to pick a specialization for future in-depth study.

"Even though I'm a graduate student in acoustics, this online course felt like a nice complementary session. It was always very interesting as I got to dive into some topics a little deeper than I did in my prior (non virtual) classes. My knowledge on some topics got more solid and detailed." - Previous Learner
