The University of Texas at Austin designed its high-quality online MSAI for learners ready to optimize the intuitive technology that impacts our everyday lives. Online MSAI learners develop robust technical skills to succeed in their careers as software engineers, AI consultants, and more. 

The 30-credit curriculum features a multidisciplinary perspective into how AI is used in fields such as urban planning, healthcare, and architecture. Learners complete one required course (3 credit hours), Ethics in AI, and 9 elective courses (27 credit hours) to understand the nuances of advanced AI technologies.

MSAI’s elective courses include advanced coursework from an array of subjects such as deep learning, optimization, and natural language processing.

Tuition and financial aid

The tuition for the UT Austin MSAI program as of the 2023-24 academic year is $10,000. A $500 deposit is required upon enrollment. Please note that tuition does not include out-of-pocket expenses such as books, additional course materials, or other fees. Learners can expect a moderate tuition increase each year.   • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) , using UT Austin’s code, 003658.

  • Sign the FAFSA electronically with your Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID.

  • Apply for financial aid at the same time as you complete your program application


UT Austin’s online Master of Artificial Intelligence offers two application deadlines. Choose the application deadline below that works best for you. If you are admitted, UT Austin will communicate your enrollment deposit date to you in your online admission letter.

Prospective learners interested in the online program must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by the time classes begin. Applicants may be admitted with a degree in a related field that demonstrates their capacity for success in a technical field of study. Examples would include computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, statistics, data science, and mathematics.

Applicants with degrees in non-technical subject areas may be eligible for admission if the admissions committee determines they have completed sufficient relevant coursework to be fully prepared to pursue graduate study.
